This is correct to a point - also - we were already assisting the Soviet Union prior to 1941 in "industrial" advancement, and we were waging an economic war with Japan well before 1941, AND - we were assisting Great Britain in their war before 1941....

There were so many points of aggression by the Roosevelt administration that were hidden from Americans it makes me wonder how anyone these days could call Pearl Harbor a "sneak attack" that we had no idea about. FDR knew, and acted in such a manner that some attack was inevitable. Never underestimate the government's ability to deceive, or enthusiasm for getting American kids killed.

So yes, a strong military is great - but only if he who wields it cares about the country. These *******s that preach war, war, war are never the ones getting shot at.
Yes we were helping some countries prior to 1941. England because it is our closest ally, Russia because we needed the money, and because Roosevelt was a closet communist. The economic war against Japan was because of their invasion of China and their war crimes on the people of China.

That turned out really well for us, don't you think?

If China takes Taiwan our economy goes into the crapper. We use far to many computer chips made in Taiwan and no longer have the capability to manufacturer them here. Sure we could start making them, after we either built the machinery or bought it from China. We need to move a lot of manufacturing back to the USA but that is not going to happen as long as the deep state is so regulation happy.
We could start making them? Pretty sure we are . Last I read Taiwan had a 50% market share & us had 12%. Think the us is 3rd largest in chip making behind Taiwan & S Korea. We have been increasing manufacturing & projected to have 17% market share in a few years.

Agree that China taking Taiwan would be an economic disaster, but it looks like we have already Been increasing manufacturing here.

Most people aren't aware of this but the US is or was very recently #2 in the world in total manufacturing output. Most of the things we have allowed to go off shore are manufacturing jobs which require low / no skill labor for . Additionally a lot of manufacturing where we currently lead has also been automated heavily so large numbers of workers are no longer needed in the plants . I would love to see all manufacturing return to the US, but its a multi tiered problem that has some serious cultural implications. The biggest one being lots of Americans have become spoiled with the highest standard of living in the world , particularly those who are in the no skills or education / little skills and education camps incorrectly believing they are worth more than they are in the job market . It's incredibly expensive to hire a worker now days even in the tenth percentile wage category when you look at total compensation costs and the regulatory nightmare then couple that with various states like California raising minimum wages to absurd levels. The minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage to begin with yet many think for some reason you should be able to.

You can thank your politicians for allowing all of our cheap consumer goods to be manufactured in China, but at this point I am firmly of the belief they would have went some where else regardless. Our regulatory environment has killed lots of these kinds of jobs in the US and as I said above no one will work now days for that kind of money. Oh and let's not forget everyone here want's their 54 inch $400 4K TV . In the end we're all just as guilty as the politicians because people keep demanding more and cheaper crap from businesses and its only possible in a country that uses very cheap , and even conscripted or slave labor forces to make it.

To be blunt, we no longer have a civilian government that's moral and ethical enough to utilize the world's most powerful military judiciously. We act when we shouldn't and don't act when we should, because of politics.

Yes, however if we do nothing we will be still buying them from the chinese, unless Taiwan follows a salted earth strategy and destroys them. Long term chip production would be less progressive. China would not be allowed the latest and greatest new chip production tech by treaties.

That is why I said are politicians have turned us into a nation of cucks. We won't be able to act without grievous harm to our economy. All out war would make us about as well off as Germany after WWI.
