Hello all, I recently inherited a real cherry 1991 Chevy pickup from my grandfather with 87k original miles on it and I’m gonna be driving it from OKC to Conway, AR to my mom’s house. I plan on putting new tires on it, getting it tuned up, fluids topped off, brakes checked, etc. The truck has been well maintained all its life and I currently drive it all over the OKC metro and it never skips a beat. It should be ok to make the trip, right?

I drive my 94 K2500 with over 200k miles on it from OKC to Emporia KS regularly (250ish miles). If it's well maintained you'll be fine. My 92 C2500 is the same way. It currently needs a full tune up, but once that's done it'll make the trip just fine too.

The only advice I have is that once you go over 70 mph your gas milage is gonna drop. And at 80 it'll be drinking the gasoline. Also, I never put Ethanol in mine. Only real gas. These trucks were built at a time when the Federal speed limit was 65mph and Ethanol didn't exist.

Edit: Corrected info on speed limits.

It’s a long bed with like a 35 gallon tank. The gauges aren’t in the best shape (I’d say vague at best). Speedo only goes up to 80 but it gets there no problem. It’s a true survivor, everything is all original on it.
