California is setting its "cold dead hand" gun owners and the rest of us pro 2A Americans up. You think Sandy Hook and Aurora were bad press incidents? Just wait till some armed insurrection occurs in California once these are enacted. The feds and media will fan that flame into a ****-storm for all of us. This is much worse than just a boo-hoo California moment.

Here's the list. I'd say these were proposed, but based on the full Democrat control in CA this is pretty much certainly a list of future restrictions:

  • Possession of hollow point bullets and similar assault bullets a felony.
  • Must register and report ammo purchases. Only purchase max 500 rounds.
  • 10 round magazine limit
  • ALL magazines must be fixed to the gun (can not be removed without the use of a tool)
  • 100% prohibition of all magazines greater than 10 rounds. All previous grandfathered magazines become illegal. Felony if you keep one.
  • Changing definition of shotgun revolving cylinder — Basically only single shot shotguns will remain legal.
  • Bullet Buttons will become illegal — All AR and AK style rifles that are currently equipped with them will be designated Assault Weapons. Felony to possess.
  • All gun owners now must be licensed like drivers.
  • All gun owners must carry gun liability insurance

"Assault bullets"?! Only in Kalifornia. What the Hell is a bullet for, if not to assault a target?

The Bullet Button is a product that allows the shooter to drop a magazine with the use of a tool. It prevents finger manipulation of the mag release, and creates a condition allowable under current individual interpretations of California law.

This does not create a detachable mag situation, but creates an attachable-fixed magazine condition. A bullet tip can be used as the tool, as can any small object such as Allen wrench, or small screwdriver.

YouGottaBeEffingKiddingMe! There really is such a thing?! If it were not in Kalifornia I would believe such a quote just has to be a spoof! Only to appease terminally stupid Kalifornia law would anyone invent something as terminally stupid as a button that must be activated by a tool to activate a button that should be activated by mere finger pressure! Sheesh!

I browsed through the "Kalifornia-Legal" pages on that Rifle Gear website: http://www.riflegear.com/c-15-california-legal.aspx
There are two pages of parts to make an AR-15 Kalifornia-legal, one page for an AK, and two pages for other rifles.

Hey, can anyone post for our mutual edification a picture of what an AR-15 looks like once all that Kalifornia-legal crap is installed on it? The thing must be an incredibly unusable monster! Not being from nor caring much about Kalifornia I am completely unfamiliar with the excruciating details of Kalifornia-legal firearms (assuming "California-legal firearms" is not in itself an oxymoron!)

Here's a decent explanation. Pay attention to what they had to do before the bullet botton. Next think you know they will ban stripper clips too.

Full disclosure: I'm a recent refugee from the People's Republic. Been wanting to escape for years, finally my circumstances aligned and my workplace (same company that makes plastic airplanes with combustable batteries) offered me a sweet deal to make the move to the OKC area.

The Bullet Button was invented as a way around KA's asinine "assault weapon" law. Like the expired federal AWB, those enlightened folks in Sacramento designed their own ban not only by naming certain evil rifles and shotguns, but also by declaring it verboten if they included two or more heinous "features." Flash hider, bayonet lug, detachable magazine, pistol grip, fixed magazine over 10 rds, etc. Most AR/AK firearms could do away with everything except the detachable magazine and pistol grip, so the only AR-style rifles that existed after the ban were models with permanently fixed magazines that could only be reloaded by pulling the rear takedown pin and flipping open the upper receiver. Very few people bothered to buy these crippled rifles. Then somebody figured out that the legislation creating the CA AWB made an interesting distinction between "detachable" and "fixed" magazines. Essentially, a magazine was considered "fixed" if it required a tool to free it from the rifle, and according to the law a bullet is considered a tool. So this enterprising individual created a special magazine release button that fit into the exact same opening in the receiver but which had a spring-loaded button in the middle of it; this special magazine release would not drop the magazine unless some narrow tool like a bullet point first depressed the little spring-loaded button. This little doo-dad completely revitalized AR sales in the state, I've seen estimates of between 100,000 and 1,000,000 sales since it has come into existence.

Naturally the legislators don't like the fact that people are exploiting a loophole in their crappily written law, so over the past several years there have been a number of attempts to fix the "problem." And it looks like they're trying again.

So that's the simple version, the complete story is far too complicated to tell and I am in no way qualified to tell it anyway. However if you want an illustrated depiction of how screwed up things are you ought to check out this handy-dandy "Assault Rifle" flow chart put together by the folks at calguns.net, which would of course be the CA version of OSA: http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf. Make sure you check out the second page for a couple of pictures of other attempts to get around the "features" ban, both of them attempts to get around the "pistol grip" feature. Lord those things are grotesque.

There are plenty of other dubious firearms law in the state: one handgun a month, 10 day waiting period, the "handgun safety certificate," 10 round magazines, ... the list goes on. Gun owner hell.

California is an embarrassment. Almost everyone from there and all the celebrities talk about how great it is but in actuality it is a nightmare. I wouldn't live there if I was the richest man on earth. I would still be here in Oklahoma. I can't say this enough but I am so blessed to have been born and raised here. I can't imagine living in one of those communist states. All the rest of the liberal states will probably start following the rest of these idiots before to long.

Lets see (ticking off features on my fingers): you have just described the features on every rifle I own! Get rid of these features and I'm down to, lets see, my single-shot, spring-piston-driven, .177 caliber air rifle; and my son's Daisy BB gun. Except I'm not sure about his BB gun! It's a Daisy Red Ryder Range Model 200-shot Lightning Loader with the Compass in the Stock and This Thing Which Tells Time! I'm not sure whether he could have that coiled blue-steel power-house in Kalifornia.

so the only AR-style rifles that existed after the ban were models with permanently fixed magazines that could only be reloaded by pulling the rear takedown pin and flipping open the upper receiver.
Yeah, I caught that "feature" in the YouTube video. Bizarre! How did you stand it? Nobody out there in the Land of Fruits and Nuts can read and understand "shall not be infringed?"

Hey, I used to fly one of your airplanes! Except the ones I flew were made of aluminum and, to my knowledge, never had their lead-acid batteries catch fire. 1970's technology. What do they do here in the Plains?
