I hope my kids never find out half the stuff I have told them to make them realize how good they have it all a lie!! Like milking cows by hand at 430 every morning (raised on a Horse/Beef Cattle ranch in Arizona, no milkers), or that we raised rats to catch snakes to sell to the circus, or that horseshoes were bent by hand and not bought like they are today, or that racoon tastes like chicken, or that possum ain't that greasy in stew, or that we filled our water troughs by hand with buckets from the ponds not a water line and hose, or that calf pulling was a competition at the County fair and we had to practice for it. The list goes on, I know they see through it all now but at some time or another each was used to teach a point to one of them.
Mine was my dad. His other big one was "well hide and watch!"

Whoa there; it's a little harsh to call the old fella a "worthless slimeball" now don't you think? We may not agree with his words or his reasoning, but put your self in his position for a second.
My dad used to tell us all the time he didn't have us because we were cute, he had us because we were cheap labor -- so we'd better not act up and we'd better get those chores done.

The only mention of anything like that, that I'm aware of is "fleeing felon" addressed toward the police. Even then there are exceptions.
