I respectfully disagree.
While meat juices do make smoke, there's a distinct flavor to the smokiness of stuff grilled on charcoal that gas grills cannot match.
Bingo 100% correct.

Actually ill cook a better steak on oak wood over a campfire pit. Better than coal any day IMOAlso it’s why steak contests are always won on charcoal!
Thanks for this information... I took a closer look, the flavorizer bars are not showing any signs of rusting out and all the ports on the burners are open. So I splurged on a better quality stainless steel grills, and I'll give it a good cleaning and get a few more years out of it.If you can fix it for less than it would cost to replace it and it does what you need it to do, then I’d fix it. I bought the parts to repair mine from grillparts.com. I think they were the best price and availability when I looked a few years ago.
I have a Ceramic Grill Store adjustable rig for mine. I can run 2 racks with the platesetter in for long smokes and 3 racks if cooking direct. I might even be able to run 3 racks with the BGE platesetter but I've never tried that. I've never needed to so I haven't bought that 3rd rack. A large (mine) will hold quite a bit as they come but it does get cramped and can be a PITA to move stuff around and really large whole briskets get cramped. Oh well they have larger ones that won't have that problem at all.Always wanted to try a BGE but what holds me back is the price and limited surface area inside. When you make a round grill, you have cut a lot of surface area out. No if it were a Big Green Brick and rectangular, I'd be all in.
Some of the best steaks I ever cooked was on one of those. Since the kids have all moved out, I ought to get another for just the wife and me.Since I live alone and don't have big cookouts anymore, I need one of the old style cast iron hibachi grills with the cast iron grates.View attachment 197620
Says the one camping in an RV with a toilet and HVACBunch a city boys on here. You don't need a stinking grill! What did your ancestors do without their fancy pellets and factory charcoal?
