I have a bear safe and love it. My understanding is that if at anytime in the further you need to upgrade to a larger safe, they will give you full value trade in for your old one.
That's not a bad deal at all. I'm going to test that here in the near future. I need a larger one.

I went to that safe store on I-44 in east Tulsa. The one with the flashing sign across from the big casino. I thought they would have some local or US made safes. Literally all of them were made in China. Some were very nice... they said the best ones were designed and spec'd by US companies and were considerably better than the standard models.

Since I couldn't find one made locally... I started looking around. Costco was having a big sale at the time and would deliver it to my home for free... so that's the way I went.

That was last summer so I don't remember for sure. When I walked in the door, I was under the impression they actually sold some safes they made right there in Tulsa. They quickly told me that wasn't true. After some back and forth, I _think_ they told me that everything they sold there was made in China. It was just a matter of how good a safe you wanted. They were proud of their personal brand name safes because they were totally made to their specs and had some nice features. But they were still made in China.

It feels like a dream now... but my Dad was looking for a safe 5-8 years ago. And we drove around and hit every place in Tulsa that sold safes. And we found this one manufacturing place where they were very nice and they had this tiny little showroom with the few safes they made right there. They offered to give us a shop tour so we did it. We went in the back and it turned out this company made most of their money making high precision parts for the US Air Force. But way in the back there was a separate room and in there they were making some very nice safes. Basic but tough steel and you could pick various options. I was impressed but we ultimately ended up buying a Liberty safe at a box store. Ever since, I've wondered about that place, what it was called, and whether they still made and sold safes? I've asked but nobody knows. Maybe somebody here does?
