you cant' afford not to do it, actually. sign up for 12 hours of college. they will give you $2700 grant and a 6k loan. the grant need never be repaid, and if you sign up for a local jr college, the tuition is just $1400 per semester. If you actually wish to attend, the books can be had, used, on Amazon, for $50 or so. Don't pay $500 for them at the college bookstore. You get to keep about 1k per semester of the grant that way, you see.
The loan, you get 6 months after you withdraw or finish college, before you have to make payments and the interest rate is just 7% annually. Since the average inflation rate is 5% per year, the loan is a gift, really. If you withdraw or flunk, they'll let you do it again, one more semester, and if you fail or withdraw, then you have to go one semester on your own, no help, before you can have another loan.
