On Sunday November 11th, veterans day, a military friend that I work with went to Subway in the Promenade mall to get a bite to eat. When he got there he asked if they had any specials for veterans on veterans day. The manager, of a different nationality, replied with "we don't support veterans here". My buddy said ok and was gonna move on due to feeling disrespected. But the manager felt like he needed to add more by saying "and what makes you so special?!". Needless to say, even though I love Subway, I will not be eating there again! It is a shame that one person can put such a negative image on a large company.

man was likely having a bad day, the buddy could have said "cause i am a vet and it is veterans day" everything doensn't have to be a problem or confrontation. But that wouldn't make it a good story would it?

It is a shame that one person can put such a negative image on a large company.

While I agree with not eating at that particular Subway, each Subway is franchised and I wouldn't hold it against the other stores.

While what that guy said was rude, it his highly likely he wasn't even the franchise owner.

Exactly how would it have ended? Just wondering.

If he was working on a holiday weekend at the mall he probably is not the owner, or anyone with any real authority. If he was that rude, a letter or email to the owner and/or corporate headquarters might be in order. I would just simply not eat there, myself.

BTW I am a veteran myself (Army). Thank you and your buddy for your service to our country.

Seeing how they were some what confrontational about being a veteran, I would just do business elsewhere. Lots of Subways have provided deals to our active duty and our nation's veterans.
