You're right..... Veterans should run up and down the streets beating people that don't agree with them. Because that's what the military is for and what this country is all about.

I grew up with and still believe in the same philosophy, and there's a fine line between letting someone run their mouth and holding them accountable for it. However, your buddy is an obvious step above this guy as far as being an human being goes, let's keep it that way.
this ^^^ You're not enforcing the governments views on what the guy said, you're enforcing your own. I don't think we should say that you have the right to say anything you want without recourse because the constitution protects it. That's not what the 1st Amendment is for IMO.
