The real easy answer is this:
Get the .308 AR. That way you can enjoy the feeling of knowing that both of your testicles have fully dropped, while the Creedmoor crowd is still curiously looking at themselves naked in a mirror.
.308 wins on ammo prices, 0-250 energy, and cheaper component availability (for now).
The trade-off is that the .308 will have a little more recoil...so if you're dainty, then perhaps the CM. Plus the CM will perform better at longer ranges if your primarily target shooting.

The 308 Winchester is an antiquated chambering that does everything good but nothing great. It will never be able to fully take advantage of the new bullet designs and is much like the 300 WM and 7mmRM. That’s why we now have the 300 and 7mm PRC’s. They both do what the others couldn’t without taking up valuable case capacity or exceeding mag length.
The 6.5CM and 260 Rem ballistically out performs the 308 and to a certain extent 300WM down range.
Heck, even the military has seen the writing on the wall. That’s why you now see the 6.8(270) and Norma Mags within the services.

LT was the other vendor. It's an ongoing thing though until they down select a final vendor for the long term contract.
So inside 300 yards does the legendary Creed really provide a useful trajectory advantage? 400 yards?
Not really, it's just a personal preference. Either is fine, it's not like I don't use 308 rifles. I guess I just feel better knowing that my gun will still shoot like a laser over longer distances, if that kind of situation arises
I haven’t kept up with this thread, but from a quick read through, what I’m seeing here is that the guys that fancy themselves “long range shooters” prefer 6.5 CM and the folks living in the real world like 308. Am I caught up now?!?
