GUN CONTROL FIGHT: Illinois Dems Seek Ban on All Modern Firearms

Illinois Senate Democrats advanced legislation late Wednesday to restrict semiautomatic weapons and high-capacity magazines, pressing forward with new gun control measures in the waning days of the session over the objections of firearms groups.

Amid the developments, the Illinois State Rifle Association issued an "urgent alert" to its members warning them that Democratic legislators were trying to push through last-minute anti-gun legislation.

"There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering," the group stated in its alert. "You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the state police and avoid prosecution."

A Senate committee approved two bills, one dealing with the weapons and the other with magazines. Democratic supporters could face a tough sell in the full Senate.

One measure would ban the possession, delivery, sale and transfer of semiautomatic handguns and rifles.

It's not legal for them to make something that was once legal illegal and prosecute those in violation. It'll go to the supreme court and get overturned.

Your kids can still pray in schools on their own, the teacher just can't lead them in prayer because it shows favor to one religion over others in a government that acknowledges freedom of religion. Remember "See you at the flag pole" from when you were a kid? They had that for us and I went to school in the 90s and 00s. It's a student led prayer group.

We all need to stop twisting the facts. We're a group of people that routinely submit to and pass background checks. We're honest and we need to stay that way so as to best be able to represent ourselves. If we twist things to look right from our perspective, it makes us the same as them. It's the same with saying "They'll get my bullets, first!". It makes us all look bad. That's not the kind of image we need to convey.

As I understand it, Chicago runs the state and the gangs have a lot of influence in Chicago politics. So you could see this as gang empowerment legislation. The gangs will still have modern weapons while lawful citizens will have nothing, or at least no semi-autos of any sort.
