I don't see how anyone can not like Monty Python. I have been told that some autistic traits can keep an otherwise intelligent person from "getting" some humor. (I'm being serious)

I believe that I have read the first 110 Deathlands
Finished The Ashes
and Jerry Ahern's Survivalist
Even dipped back into Jules Verne and HG Wells!!!

If you like hard sci-fi, particularly military sci-fi, try Jack Campbell's Lost Fleet series. The original series was six books, but there's an expanded universe if you want more.

HHGTTG is my favorite trilogy of all times. All 5 books were great.
