Try a hollow base so that the weight balance is more forward.

If you are talking about slugs I tried the Lee slugs in my shotguns all are smooth bore and I tried many loads and different shot cups
all were terrible.

Yes that is it. Not familiar with Lee.

Lee is hollow base with a divider wall up the middle they call it a key drive slug.
I have not found a good way to make a mold that is hollow and drilling out the base is difficult and inconsistent with my tools.

Last time I did this I modified a paddle bit that way the tail had a cup to it. Good work though! Them are gonna land like ball peen hammers!
