Like get up early to go deal with the Boss from Dilbert. Retired. Money coming in without further, and often futile effort. Best non-job ever.

You'll get used to retirement. For the first time in a very long time, you don't have an employer telling you what to do and when to do it. A properly funded retirement is the ultimate freedom that is difficult to verbalize. I can say 5 years into mine that it's freaking AWESOME.
I have no idea what any of this means and really wish that I did.

Absolutely you do. Get on Vanguard dot com and you can invest in a ROTH IRA.
Find a fund that follows the SP 500 - which has averaged 12% over the last 80 years or more.
Also you can go to daveramsey dot com and click Smart vester and it will show you a list of investment professionals in your area that Dave endorses and they can make you an appointment to come in and teach you how to invest and let you make all the decisions with the knowledge they provide you.
And never hire someone else to manage your money for you. YOU manage it with what they tell you.
