How to make a iPhone 3g smart again?

My phone is more than a few years old now. I updated some apps now none of them work. Any ideas on a fix. I have plenty of space unused. I am tech challenged. Anybody got ideas on ho to fix or upgrade this old phone?

Have you updated it through iTunes lately? I'm betting you need to update to a newer version of iOS. I was trying to get some stuff for my iPad 2 a couple days ago, and it said I needed to upgrade to iOS 5 to make it work...iOS 6 is out now...lol..

I hate updating my apple stuff because I have to go through and jailbreak it again....

If you have an Iphone 3G then you can't update to the current firmware like the 4s and 5 are using. If I remember right your stuck to using 4.2.1 or something similar. Have you tried a hard reset yet, it's different then just turning it off and back on. A hard reset usually fixes most glitches. If that doesn't work you can go back to one of your older syncs if you backed up everything in iTunes?
