how will a bench warrant effect me

i know and i'm a pastor.... i can see it now, pastor won't make it this sunday, he's in jail.
all jokin aside here is the deal
i got a ticket in OKC a month ago for out of date tag. officer was confusing the tag and with the insurance rule and told me it would be dropper if i gat a tag and took it there within 48 hrs. i did and the clerk informed me that only applied to proof of insurance tickets. i didnt have the funds to pay the ticket that day and planned on coming back........TOTALLY FORGOT (actually total irresponsibility) to pay attention to the deadline and recieved a ;etter today that i had a failure to appear warrant and my $160 ticket was now $420....
I immediately paid the ticket online (shoulda done that originally) but am curious what the warrant will do to my record? will it cause a problem for firearm purchases. will it be completely removed or always there? thanks for any input

It will only affect you if you were arrested. Don't sweat it as long as you hate satan you'll be fine bro! I have tickets all the time no worries!

Usually they give you extra time. I've forgotten also called and asked and they told me you get 14 days before it really gets a warrant issued

No,you paid the ticket,it will be cancelled and it's a misdemeanor any way.You can call the court clerk on Monday to make sure it's cancelled.

as long as it is paid, there is no problem, under the freedom of information act, it will still be known that you had a warrant issued, but will show that it is no longer valid. and it will NOT affect you purchasing a firearm.

Be sure and follow up on this. Errors DO happen. (And keep a receipt (or printout of your cancelled check) in your glovebox for a while. Just in case.

dont know how it works in Oklahoma County but I got screwed over by Stephens County when I lived in Duncan. Had a warrant issued for something I had no idea about. I was already living in OKC at the time. Got a letter in the mail. Took off work to go pay the ticket, paid the ticket and was handcuffed, and booked into county. Spent about 6 hours
in jail went before a judge long story short... a $150 fine cost me $800 and a misdimeanor on my record. Now when I buy a gun it gets kicked up for further review never had it take more than 15 mins but it still sucks. But to answer your question you cant buy a gun if you have an active warrant.

thanks to all. i did pay it and will call them Monday as well as carry a reciept. i wish i could have called them and see if they would give me the 14 days but being the weekend i didnt want to take any chances. and for some reason mine is always kicked up to "further review"
