ok i have a solution to the whole walmart problem, everyone just turn the switches off during a holiday so that nothing works and everyone has to sit at home or where ever they are and do nothing but use ur brain for something other than bitching, see how far that will get u.One thing about it those of us that are on call wont have to worry cause the phones wont work anymore and dont figure many people knows how to send smoke signals.

I make it a point to not shop on thanksgiving, christmas, easter day etc. Just because like the old days, I still like to think people care for each other and family. Last minute shoppers are the reason they are open.
I'm with you. I don't know why we even call it Thanksgiving anymore. It is nothing more than a day that our society dedicates to binging on food more than normal while they scour sales ads to figure out how they can buy more stuff they don't need with money they don't have while fighting with other folks just like them.

Let's just call it a Anarchy Day and give all of our LEO personell the day off. Anyone who goes outside that day knows the risks and will have to deal with the consequences. If you survive though, you might save $50 on something you may or may not want a month from now.

Personally, I wish we went back to the old days when any non-essential operations were shut down on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Instead the meaning of those days has given way to gluttony and greed. That's just who we are these days. It's a shame but there is no going back and to hell with any folks who have to work those days because by golly I have to do it too.

In the last several years this country has changed a whole bunch. People now work more than one job, usually part time jobs, because businesses have learned that's one way to reduce labor costs. Competition has become king, and everyone wants to win.

If Americans wanted to return to "traditional values," one Thanksgiving of pretty much no one shopping would do it.

I do think we need to remember that this WalMart deal is the action of union organizers, not of the large number of employees.
