Roger that.

I grew up with a huge family (on both sides) and we had Sunday dinner almost every week.
Then during the holidays ALL of the family members would travel from around the country to be together.
It's one of the reasons the holiday season is so damn depressing to me....a lot of them have passed away and come this time of year I realy miss being able to get together with my folks...ya' know?

Yes, I know. We have a senior family member that will never see another thanksgiving. This one is special.

I was a single NCO in the army, always got stuck pulling duty and Sgt of the Guard so the married NCOs could be with their loved ones.

Now own a very small gun store, I am the only employee and if I want to sell guns I have to be there. Yes I am working Thanksgiving, and Christmas and New Years and any other day I might be able to make a sale.

No sympathy for wally world workers, at least they have a job.

I've given your post some thought.
Do we shut down the economy for a holiday or do we respect it, and everybody not in vital jobs are required to be off.

My company pays pretty good money for working on the holidays.
Some don't.
Some pay wages.
I guess it depends on if you need the money or a day off.

I always hope to be deer hunting on Thanksgiving morning. Hey, that's work too.
It's all work.

I'm amazed that the attitude here is more along the lines of 'misery loves company' than it is 'no one needs cheap chinese crap 3 hours after overeating'

it is a bunch of crap. working holidays sucks, no doubt. but if you want the job it is part of the deal. I too am very much in the get over it or get out crowd.

What this particular demonstration boils down to is the group OURWalmart, a subsidary of the UNited Food workers Union, is pushing a few uneducated and unhappy people into making a demonstration. If these people think the OURWalmart group truly has their best intrests at heart then they are in for a rude awakening. All that group wants is a chunk of the 1.3 million paychecks going out every 2 weeks.

They should google canada walmart unions and see how that ended up.

Somewhere out here!
I'm going to enjoy this one. Last year Thanksgiving was spent in Iraq with MRE's because the location we were staying at had all but closed down and we were just waiting on a ride. I'm thankful our comm guys kept us some semblance of internet up and I was able to talk to my fam over skype at that time. In all actuality, those of us that got stuck behind waiting on a ride out had a great time.
Hopefully all of our men and women down range have a helluva feast today and at least get to enjoy themselves a little bit.
