Thanks to my line of work(military), I haven't had a Thanksgiving with my family in 7 years. This year makes 8. Boo hoo for the Wal Mart employees that will spend a few hours at work on Thanksgiving Day. If you don't like your job, then quit. It's an option you have as civilians.

I have no sympathy for those whiney retail employees. They took the job knowing the schedule. If you don't like it, get a different job. Twentyfour years in the military and now I'm working in a dispatch position that works 24/7. I knew that when I signed on. Holidays are just another day. You can make time for family irregardless of the highlighted days on the calender.

I'm getting off at 3pm today because tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Paid Company holiday tomorrow and Friday. Some jobs are just better than others. It is all about choices.

Dept. of Correction, here. Thankfully, I've put in my time and get the holidays off, but I sure remember working them! Hell, I had to work dec. 31st 1999 on midnight shift. Had to be there at 11:30pm. Talk about missing a hell of a party...

damn dave it sounds like that wound is still a bit fresh.

Having sympathy for these people is quite difficult for me. As a veteran and someone that now works in I.T. I've spent plenty of weekends, holidays and after hours away from home. Throw shift work in there too for good measure. In this economy these people should be happy they have a job at all. There may be a couple of Hostess employees eyeballing those Wal-Mart jobs.

I work in the building directly north of yours. Small world.

And I will not be working on the holidays. I've been there and done that; got the t-shirt. What really sucks is working at walmart the day after thanksgiving!!! That was the worst day for me way back when.

I used to be a task supervisor in ANF-2. Then I went federal law enforcement and moved over here.
