My youngest son got a sword many years ago and was proud of it and like me he will use it to cut things.
We went to the front yard and began chopping the hedges to square them up.
A few wacks later the sword was bent.
POS!
I am pretty sure my 2 sons have never got a sword after that.

I wanna freakin wack stuff if i have a sword in my hands.

I sure ain't leaving it hanging on the wall.
I would take it hunting and fishing and cut my way to the good spots.

That is all. I do not have any rear engine mowers.

You need to find a brush hog blade that is worn out. Make you a jungle sword. I have sets of old lawn mower blades off zero turns. I wonder if that steel is worth making a hacker?

I have made many knifes and 1 sword from automotive leaf springs.

Excellent steel for that.
I have a lot of leaf springs laying around.
My friend edges his yard with a powered edger and doubles up the thin factory blades to make a very nice wide cut.
But he needs new ones every year.

I made him one from a leaf spring and it went almost 3 years before it got to the replacement stage.

If you’re buying a sword online, find one that’s advertised as “battle ready” and it will be built with the intention of actually being used. Expect to pay minimum $250-$300 for a sword to be worth a damn.

If you’re serious, seek out handmade Japanese katanas
