Came up on a Toyota Rav 4 that had just hit a hog. 5 in the morning on hi-way 60 west of pawhuska. It was a big boar probably around 300-325lbs. The woman said she was going about 75 mph when she hit it. At impact it shoved grill, radiator and front axels so far back the tires were almost aligned with the back edge of front doors. She was pretty shook up and I’m sure she stained or soiled herself.
Always remember vehicles are material things and insurance is for accidents. Don’t ever think you can swerve around something and avoid an accident. It’s when you swerve that you are more liable to fishtail and then roll the vehicle and that’s never good. If able let off accelerator, apply brakes lightly, brace yourself with bent arms and lower your face at impact. Better chances of surviving doing this.

Got a good image of the bird! Friend of mine managed to get a clean frame.

Them daggum semi windshields don’t have much slant so they are hell on stuff. I bought an FL-80 last year and it didn’t take me long to realize just how important it is to keep the washer fluid full. That thing splatters 5 times as many bugs as my pickup does.
