One thing I liked that they prescribed me was a lidocaine lolly pop.
If you're in OKC, my doctor was Rick Visor. Did a good job. And the 4+ of strep a year or whatever doesn't really matter. If you want them out they will do it. I also would get really bad tonsil stones, he said that was reason enough to get them out if I wanted.

I gotta say, after seeing those pics, I tend to think he'd be better off following your advice. That looked awfully painful.

I got a call yesterday about the cultures I forgot we did. Finally have a reason for the tonsillitis. It's beta hemolytic strep. They gave me a shot of Rocephin (I think) at the doc this morning. I'm still not even back up to 50%. The swelling and pain are intense at times.

Wife had tonsils removed as an adult a few years ago. Heard all the horror stories.

She was eating pizza the next day and said it was nothing pain wise.

I had mine taken out at 38. I went to an ENT specialist in Claremore. It was an outpatient deal. The pills they gave me didn't help me too much, but the lollipops worked well. I didn't have any bleeding issues, but I was told to stay calm for quite a while.....no wildman stuff. It was worth it for me.

The tonsills are both normal but the opposite lymph node is giving me trouble. I go see the ENT on Tuesday. They called yesterday morning several hours before I was awake enough to be answering calls and apparently I turned down an appointment for first thing this morning. So now I wait 7 days haha.
I am not a morning person....
