It is obvious that a bunch of folks are believing this stuff. I think the "X-Files factor" is at work here--"I want to believe . . . "

You can believe the antis are stupid if you want to. They aren't. Misdirected, devious, dedicated, dangerous, but for the most part not stupid, at least at the leadership level.

I recently heard a really frightening radio interview with a heavy "anti." He knew his stuff, and ticked off all the (from his perspective) weaknesses of the old assault weapons ban. He even knew the difference between clips and magazines. These bastards are serious and prepared.

Yes, this was a funny satire, but after the laughter remember that we are faced with a serious effort to gut the Second Amendment.

They are working on Senator Coburn to get him to cosponsor expansion of background checks. He needs to hear from us - 202 224-5754 or http://www.coburn.senate.gov/public/?p=ContactForm - It won't work to prevent mass shootings but it is a big step towards next requiring mental health checks for gun ownership and/or registration because "the background checks just aren't working." It's been a week since I last called - time to call again.

I agree. There seems to be an unprecedented amount of effort on the part of politicians and the media to demonize guns and gun owners. If we can get past this period with no loss of rights it will be a huge defeat for the anti-gunners.

NBC said this is "gun violence week" on the nightly news. They've made a map on their website showing the locations and amounts of gun violence for the previous 3 days.
Of course they're not showing defensive gun uses.

The public will soon think the plague is upon us and people like us are the cause.
