The reason the gov't wants to ban this ammo now is strictly financial. They lost the lawsuit, correct. The result of that lawsuit is the the .gov has to pay $0.14/round to Liberty ammo for every round of M855 sold until the year 2027. If the .gov bans sale to the public then overnight Liberty ammo's M855 sales dry up to basically nothing since the gov certainly isn't going to buy it anymore. Not after being sued by the company. The government at that point just basically pays $0.14/round more for any ammo they buy that was deemed to be infringing upon Liberty's patent.
If this legislation passes don't expect to ever have it repealed, like taxes once it's there it will stay.

Not legislation. Legislation would be easier to stop. It's regulatory agency policy that has the force of law. Bureaucrats decide it will be that way and so it is. Congress can and should intervene. Just sad that it is necessary.
