I’ll just give an honest answer. He made that promise as “If I’m elected”. He wasn’t. His political career is done. It’s his son.
All lame duck POTUS do exactly the same. Many give massive pardons and some less but all do it. It’s his son and if you were in the same position you’d do exactly the same so let’s put the BS aside and unpump
Up your chest.
You, and every other father, no matter how big a dirt bag his son or daughter may be, would have pardoned.
If you say different you are just a liar.

My TRUTHFUL comments are from a conservative that didn’t vote for Harris. I am just being honest about what a Father would do, what anyone would do.
Stop being so sanctimonious just because you’d never ever be in that position. So throwing stones is a fool’s folly
You have a right to your opinion, however you can't say what every father would do to protect his son or even his daughter. As we saw from another member who posted here, not every father agrees with you. Like it or not, unfortunately there are circumstances were tough love is not only the correct way to proceed, it's the only option that will work.

I have adult children I wouldn't pardon. You may want to pardon your kids, however there is a point when they need to do the time. If either of my kids did any of the crimes hunter is accused of, they would not get a pardon. I raised them, they are adults, they are responsible for their actions. And yes, I have been in a position to provide minimal bail, I said no. That man know runs his own successful company and we have a good relationship.

The biden pardon is hypocritical on many levels:

1) He said repeatedly he would not
2) It goes against all the gun laws, red flag laws and background check laws they wanted, let alone IRS regulations
3) A blanket pardon going back 10 years? What crimes did he commit over those 10 - 11 years
4) The dems repeatedly said Trump would pardon himself and his family. They excoriated him for pardoning his son in law after the time was served. This is the same and worse.

You are correct we are not in the position to grant pardons, however the people we elect to power are. I contend it is okay to criticize and be sanctimonious. Politicians are rarely held accountable for their actions.

All lame ducks do not do exactly the same.
You should read the pardon. He didn’t just pardon him from the few guilty verdicts prior to sentencing in order to save his son from jail. He gave absolute pardon from any crimes he may have committed or was a part of. Note the timeframe. 2014 was when Hunter started at Barsima & the Biden China deals went down. Hunters tax & gun guilty pleas were way after 2014. So, Biden was pardoning himself too.
This sweeping pardon is way different than the usual pardons for specific crimes. We havnt seen such a sweeping pardon like this since Nixon 50 yrs ago.

And it’s referred to as tough love for a reason.

I think still babying your kids in their 50s is evidence of a lack of that.

I'll also give an honest answer, not so much about the biden crime family and the many years of criminal, lying, deceit, etc., but on a more personal level regarding the statement, "If you say different you are just a liar." As a father and grandfather, in my 70 years of hanging around, I don't see how anyone can honestly and sincerely make such a statement. About the only hard and fast rule without an exception, is; There's an exception to most every rule.
Without going into detail, I'll share my experience that undermines your theory. As retired LE, I had an opportunity years ago to quash a legal matter involving my son and a poor decision he had made regarding certain controlled/illegal substances. But having worked, what seemed like a multitude of drug overdoses, I went with the decision to do the best I could by my son, which did involve him answering for his actions. He was not raised that way and the example I set before him was such that he couldn't claim not knowing better. Consequently, he did time and today, is substance free, working at a decent job, with a home, etc. To my knowledge, he holds no grudge and knows the reasons why I did what I did. And if asked about it today, I'm betting he would agree.

Sorry. Anyone here that's a former President of the United States that is leaving political life after losing an election that has a kid in prison for drugs and the ability to pardon him on his final days of POTUS, I'll accept his opinion as being unique. Otherwise I'll just stand my position as an outsider without that position and ability to free my son from jail.
I guess that's just me but I'll be happy to accept the opinion here of anyone that was a former Pres with the same situation.
I think arguing on the exact situation would be nice. I'm a conservative but I'm also putting myself in Biden's shoes and I'm giving an honest opinion and not a political "holier than thou" when that same christian ethics is not applied to the current president elect or ourselves.
Now destroy my opinion. I'm not offended unless you attack me personally. Another honest post.
And if that is way too honest, with me being a conservative voting as a conservative, so be it.
I've stayed off the platform for sometime because of illness and not wanting to dive into a pool of sharks when giving an honest opinion to any political issue that doesn't follow the big brother attitude of one voice or no voice.
Normally I'd not say anything but I've been a lifetime supporter of this platform and thing I've earned my right to make a statement without being vilified for it. It's time we accept debate without condemnation. That happens a lot. I've supported OSA because it's important, but we won. Don't need to keep beating a dead horse like Biden. That's over.
Ok....I think I've said enough.
PS. I do support others opinions even though this post may not look that way. I tend to be way too dramatic now that I don't have to do the legislative liaison stuff for my agency Ha

Then why didn’t Biden just pardon him from the gun & tax charges, to,keep him out of jail?? Instead, he gave a full pardon for ANY crime he might have been involved with since 2014.
That’s the problem, along with lying about it until after the election.

Naturally, I can't speak as a former president or even a low-level politician, so I won't surmise what anyone might do. The flip side to that is I've never aspired to be a politician at any level. But, in trying to understand their logic, I can see where, as in biden's case, a life-long ability to commit crimes, lie, skirt laws, etc. (this goes for both dems and repubs), pardoning may seem insignificant?
And to everyone everywhere, this forum included, I'm not condemning or belittling, etc, the notion of who may or may not do the same thing. I'm not upset about their beliefs or statements or even somewhat being included as a liar, as I think that's painting everyone with a pretty broad brush. I do think it's a baseless and unfounded assumption that hopefully wasn't made in all seriousness.
But while trying to think in biden logic and under the same circumstances of being a life-long corrupt and as of Jan. 20 (Thank God) former politician, there's a good chance that I'd pardon my career criminal son.

Exactly! This is what people need to concerned about.
