You either pay based on a percentage of AGI or you pay based on your records you kept during the year.

I don't remember the percentage, but if you buy much at all, it will be cheaper than paying the actual use tax. It you make a lot, it may be cheaper to actually figure it out. I did a rough calculation for a couple of years and found that it was not worth it to do the record keeping. I don't have the instructions any more, but it is on line 20 of form 511.

Damn. I left my records with Obama's school records. Now I can't find them. Please let me know when Obama's school records are found. I think they may be with the missing Solyndra, Fast & Furious, and Water Gate documents. Who knows?
