If we get attacked by an actual nation state in the middle east I think our response would be a little,er...um...
disproportionate. I'm pretty sure they know that, but even if they don't there are at least two things we shouldn't do today.

I double dog dare them to attack us. I doubt we'd be nice like last several times. But i do think if Isreal provokes them, its between them and Iran, no need for us to get involved yet.

Methinks they (Iran) would attempt to disable the Strait of Hormuz as a scorched earth type act. That would cripple oil exports and choke the West of a lot of oil. Remember Saddam ordered the oil field fires on retreat from Kuwait.
