Am I the only one, or does anyybody else get chills/cringe when they see well done photographs of nice guns (or any firearms for that matter) that are placed on concrete, bricks, grating or anything else that appears to have the finish resting on something abrasive? I know, I know, guns are tools, but I know what I pay for mine and would hate to see any of them damaged, even superficially. Scars from trees or field use/hunting I can understand, but that's a little different. Anybody else?
I used cut up pieces of flat rubber to set guns on when I take photographs on concrete or rough surfaces. I like that look sometimes, but my guns are too important to me to scratch up for no reason - I have different sizes, so I can use the largest piece possible without seeing them - though in some of my photos you can still see the pieces of rubber peeking out from underneath. The rubber is about 1/8th of an inch thick - just enough to provide a cushion. It's kind of tricky to set up and make sure you get everything resting properly but it's worth the effort IMO.
