We've discussed/are discussing a lot of issues in America with which we're clearly displeased. One of which is the way DC repeatedly ignores the pleas of the populace in order that the politicians (who force policy upon the masses) might continue buying votes, all in the name of their job security.

It's time to make a change. It's time to stop allowing politicians to have godlike powers over us peons. Because their decisions have clearly become counterproductive.

What's the alternative?

I can think of one. Term limits for Congress. Two terms. But, then, I guess we run the risk of a Congressman in his final term just really showing his true colors.

How can we fix the system?

The problem, in my opinion, is that we have wandered so far from what the original founders have intended. We have allowed the Federal Govt. to supersede the power of the States. We have also created an patchwork of Govt. agencies that have taken great power over us mere mortals. I think that we need to go back to something more like the founders intended, end the IRS, and demolish a lot of the ABC organizations the Fed. has created, and allow the states to have greater control, without federal interference.

Our Govt has evolved as has have our citizenry. We are on a path of more socialism as the have nots out number the haves. In a democracy, Majority rules, eventually. Wealth either gets distributed willingly, by mandate or by revolution.

A revolution would only fracture the US into smaller countries, which would make us vulnerable to attack for our resources. And we would prolly see never ending border disputes amoungst ourselves.

The problem isn't the system, it's the manipulation of the system. The system is good, the career politicians, etc... are bad. They learned they could get votes by giving....and giving....and giving to the unthinking and uncaring entitlemant camp. No one is worried about what's best for the COUNTRY anymore, it's all "ME ME ME ME".

We have lost patriotism and backbone in this country and that my friends is sad.

It's been happening so long, and they've taken the country in small bites and now there's a big hole where our freedom, common sense, pride and patriotism used to be and we're all sitting around wondering where the country went. Now we're so far down the rabbit hole that we're all sitting around asking "how do we get it back??" Lots of people have given up...lots have just conceeded defeat and are in a "we can't do anything to fix it anymore" state of mind.

I don't know the answers......wish i did. But i'm almost positive that the answer isn't pretty....either way! Trees must be watered i'm afraid.

If we're debating alternate fishing bodies, what would OSA think of a bicameral legislature in which one chamber passes laws (2/3 majority needed to pass, all laws have 5 or ten year sunsets), and one chamber repeals laws (simple majority needed to repeal)?
