Well, he said that Wison hadn't even been contacted. If that is true, there are some clairvoyant reporters running around.

When did you hear him say it? I heard him say it in a pre-game news conference before the Big 12 Championship game on Saturday or maybe Friday, I've slept since then. Did he repeat it yesterday?

Well, it was in the quote and link you posted on the first page.

On December 3rd Stops was quoted saying Wilson hadn't been contacted (my understanding of the article anyway). Seems a little fishy to me.

You guys need to remember how these things work. The AD at school A contacts the AD at school B to get permission to speak to a coach. School B tells School A that they may only contact him after the conference championship. The AD at school B tells the coach that school A is interested in him.

So, Stoops was not lying when he said what he said - Indiana had not, in fact, spoken to Wilson about the job at that time. Once the bowl game was over, Indiana sets up an interview with Wilson regarding the job. Both sides agree to terms. Wilson is the new coach.

Don't make more of this than it is. Stoops has no reason to lie about this. Losing coaches is a thing that happens all the time with successful programs.

Well I believe that most universities have a permission clause in their contracts with their coaches where the A.D. has to give permission for another school to contact any of their coaches. I think that the permission is pretty much going to be granted for sure, but that the school just wants to know about it and not be blind sided. It's kind of a professional courtesy amongst most schools.

Stoops' statement on the 3rd is totally understandable. I don't think anything approaching what Miles did to your school is happening. :D

Get rid of all of them I say.

Won 7 of the past 11 Big 12 Conference championships.

4 Heisman trophy winners in the past 11 years.

Most weeks ranked #1 in the BCS with 20 weeks (through October 17, 2010).

NCAA record for the most points scored in a single season with 702 points through 12 games in the 2008–2009 season, which is 58.5 points per game.

Ranked in the final top 10 for 8 of the past 11 seasons. 2000 #1, 2001 #4, 2002 #3, 2003 #3, 2004 #2, 2007 #8, 2008 #5, 2010 #?.

In the 2010 NFL Draft, Oklahoma became the only school in the history of the NFL Draft to have three players selected in the first four picks of the draft.

And more.

Yeah, we need to get rid of this current bunch of no-talent freeloading coaches.

I often wonder what those stats would say if Mangino or Leach had stayed and were calling the plays...

Yup. No doubt about this.
