Lead Ammo... Good or Bad

Bullet lube creates the smoke and contributes greatly to the residue.

If you want to shoot .45 in quantity, you've got to reload with cast lead bullets and an economical powder. Flare the cases gently and load them until they split or won't hold a primer.

I've shot many thousands of lead bullets in everything from Kimbers to S&W, Kahr, etc, and never had a problem.

I recently started reloading .45acp and I can get 1,000 fmj rounds for about $215. Not sure if that's an option for you, but it's easy and you can load as you find time.

Most 1911's will handle lead with little to no leading, mine hasn't seen a jacketed bullet in years. Like has been said, if it feeds and goes bang its OK
