Is there a reason to have a flash-enhancer like that? Does it reduce recoil or is it just the cool factor?

Strictly cool factor. A 7.5" 5.56 really only has the cool factor going for it anyway, so might as well make it as noisy and flashy as I can.

And if you look, my left hand is well inside the blast, which burns like hell and is very uncomfortable.

Here is my AR its a dpms lower with BCM upper, 20" barrel and a just a junky scope that came with a rifle that I bought. I just put it together this afternoon and will get a new scope on monday when im and H&H.
