@CHenry Just a quick clarification, Prevost I don’t believe has ever been manufactured in Oklahoma. They are a Canadian company, owned by Swedish automaker Volvo since 2004, best I can find.

Now, Newell Coach may be what you’re referring to being made in Oklahoma. They are very luxurious and made on the north end of Miami, OK. Better be ready and sitting down when you hear their prices.

Correct on Prevost. We spent the winter in Gulf Shores next to a 45’ Prevost. $1.5 million.

I hauled a 38' Fleetwood 5th wheel around the oilfield for 10 years to live out of while I worked. I had to put one set of tires on it and changed two batteries. The only major trouble I had was getting in a bad storm going down the highway and ripped the awning loose and it beat the rubber top and air conditioner to pieces. Insurance covered most of it.
What ever you buy make sure it is set up for four seasons.

Yeah I was thinking Prevost was out of Miami OK. I think my parents bought their Newmar here in OK. I know it was close enough they went to tour the plant. Miami also maybe?

But I want to travel, its been in my blood all my life. I havent left OKC in 7 years and I'm gettin the itch
you can travel and stay at nice hotels cheaper than buying and maintaining an motor home been there done that. also they depreciated so quick you will lose big when you decide to get rid of it ....and you will decide to get rid of it

Do a YouTube search on “frame flex” & you’ll quickly dismiss the idea of a recent fifth-wheel trailer - total crap & no accountability by either the frame manufacturer (Lippert) or the RV manufacturer, often Grand Designs. Best idea given so far is to rent so you can try the lifestyle on for size.

@CHenry Be sure to check you have enough headroom in the master bedroom area if decide to go with a 5th wheel. I'm 6'4" and some of the older models I couldn't stand up all the way without my head hitting the ceiling.

IF there's anyway possible, I'd suggest renting your home instead of selling it. Get a good property manager and have a steady income flow while you're traveling. Do that for 3 years then sell and still avoid capital gains taxes. Wife and I are starting to go through this SAME situation - retiring in a couple of years but our dog will only be around 8 so can't leave him and go to Spain for 3 months or any international travel. SO, we're considering exactly what you are - F250 and 5th wheel. Hit all of the national parks in the US. Keeping our boat so we can stay at various lakes when not traveling with the 5th wheel(Airbnb a place for a few weeks).

My wife and I bought a used 2023 Jayco last year (2023.) Mainly, for use at our hunting lease, but we have taken it out to Beaver's Bend (for the eclipse), and getting ready to go to Natural Falls. We have enjoyed, and I am not saying it is perfect, but it is not bad. It is a small 26 ft bumper pull, so nowhere near what you are looking at. It is nice, we like it.

We had been talking about it for a few years, and my Ram 1500 pulls it fine. Need to adjust the hitch a touch, but to Beaver's Bend and back it did great!
