I like this rig and a few like it.
Winnebago has always struck me as a good name brand.
This (or one like it) would likely be replacing my house, maybe if I got tired of travel and wanted a bit of a break, store it and rent a condo somewhere. I dont want a lawn to mow or house maintenance even though this house is only 5 years old, it will need things in the future.
OK has nothing to offer me anymore once mom is gone. She'll be 86 on Oct. 29th and I hope she makes it but often have my doubts. If she is still here, I'd offer to load her up and take off on the open road. But she cant get far from her Drs for too long so there's that.

Tiffin (not Tippin) is now a THOR brand, a corporation with multiple brands that can’t make a quality RV to save their soul. Newmar is a mega-buck brand so good luck that your $$$$ gets the desired quality. Plus, buying tires for that puts you in the same category of spending as an 18-wheeler.

I looked a the Newmar website, lots of nice rigs but none showed the price. Yikes.

Even though the wife and I live in an RV (fifth wheel), we've decided that it will sit in one place for however long. We've determined that we can travel and stay in hotels or VRBO's (Vacation Rentals By Owners) for less money than trying to pay for diesel for traveling.

That sounds like a legit strategy, and I could employ the same as well I'm sure.

I had an acquaintance that went to the factory in Indiana I think. Anyways, they made several brands in the same factory. International, Mercedes and I don't remember the others. But basically you were getting the same RV, But with different bells and whistles. You basically picked your price point.

If I were single and wanted to travel this is the route I would go. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...BwE&pid=mini_vdp_main_image#listing=379115991

One might want to research the Mercedes diesel engines. Time was, roughly 12 years ago, people were cautioned about them. If one accidentally puts gasoline into one of them, the whole engine needed to be replaced, while with other diesel engines, it might cost a bit but one could have someone go through the engine replacing certain parts and salvage the rest of the engine.

Being that we are looking at a fair amount of time, Mercedes might have changed things.

Sooooo, what about airstream? I have been in a couple of those and they were nice. Most other brands, not so much as they age.

Buddies parents did this for more than a decade. I think it was a jayco but could be wrong. Theirs lasted fairly well but new parts all the time as things broke. FIL had one for six months in 90s. Spent more on repairs than he did on buying it. And only used it about two weeks.
