if OBL was still alive, he'd be kicking himself about why he didn't send his 20 minions to 20 different elementary schools in 20 different states all on the same day to wreak havoc. could you imagine what would happen in the aftermath of an event like that? you can bet that the bad guys are taking notes right now.

i have a horrible feeling that something like this could happen soon and would likely trigger marshal law and absolute gun confiscation. i hope i'm wrong...

I've been worried about another Beslan in the U.S. for years. That and Mumbai seem more inevitable than avoidable. :(

The next session of Congress will be absolute gridlock. With the fiscal cliff looming and now the AWB legislation, you can guarantee there will be lots of bitter arguing....what I hope does not happen is that the republicans essentially sell their AWB ban vote in exchange for a democrat vote on the financial bill...

I don't think they will make that mistake again. Even the dims are starting to let on that they are scared of gun control legislation, well... all but the usual nutsacks anyway. I'm pretty sure that the repubs know that we will clean the house and senate again and that they are not immune.

Watching NRA membership skyrocket as gun and ammunition supplies are being rapidly depleted will do that to a politician. :D

I say we put it to a vote and each state make their own decision on guns. Then we will get a good case study with the states with 100% gun bans. I'm sure that we would be a very 2a state, and that may help economy here by opening the door for gun/ammo manufacturing moving to a gun friendly state.

While I certainly wish and hope that is the case, I can't help but wonder if this attitude among 2A supporters will be their downfall. It seems I am running in to more and more folks who are willing to sit back in their armchairs, point to the victories of the past, and say something along the lines of "they've never succeeded before, we can't lose." Sure there's a lot of people and politicians alike who may stop or delay the passage of this atrocity Feinstein has introduced.

If the People won't stand up against the attacks on the most fundamental and defining principles outlined in the constitution of this great nation, if we the people continue to allow the minority to call the shots where it matters in the political arena, you can bet your pretty AR-15 they'll win this battle. They'll also win the next one in 2-5 years after the next atrocious school shooting, that'll be the one where they require a buyback program of your "assault weapons" as defined by the previous link.

Yes, all of us need to join the NRA. Gun owners are the majority in this country, republicans, democrats and all other party stripes!
If we all joined the NRA, there would be no discussion!
Right now NRA has 5 million members and there are over 100 million gun owners. What are the rest of us waiting for?
:)
