The wife and I are both retired and are high risk due to our medical issues. So, we'll probably stay at home until the virus is more under control. I'm thinking about the end of May. I do understand that other people have different situations and are in better health than some of us, and have different financial circumstances. To each their own. Personally I take the government timeline as a guess that balances both health and the economy (not a drop dead date for which all is back to normal). I'll be happy for things to get back to normal.

And let’s face, who ever heard of not breathing in public as a normal part of hygiene?
I must have missed something.
who do we blame more, the breathers or the breathed upon?

Huh?

Why is breathing a problem? IMO it would only be a problem if I was around someone else who was actively coughing/sneezing and was actually sick.

Here I thought that was part of the idea behind wearing a mask?

Went to Walmart today. Half the 70-90+ year old shoppers were not wearing masks and about 2/3 of the younger folks didn't.

That's what I've seen the couple of times I've gotten out in the last 3 weeks. My wife and I didn't wear one either.

And no one really practiced social distancing.

Lowe's felt like it was more crowded this past Sunday than ever before to me . . .

One big guy about 30-35 years old with his two kids was sneezing all over everything and made no attempt to cover it, what a slob.

So it was just your usual day in Wallyworld? :anyone:

The WM workers wore masks but most of them didn't wear them correctly. I'm surprised the number of infections aren't higher. Once it opens back up 99% of all the mask/glove/social distancing will disappear. It will be interesting to see infections skyrocket.

As long as roughly 80% of folks who get sick don't need to hit the doctor up for help and can stay home to heal I won't worry too much.

But I'm not someone who needs to go to a movie, the mall or eat out a lot. I prefer ordering PPV and picking up food to eat at home.

I wore a N95 mask that I had in my shop on my Wally World trip and I have to be honest. After wearing it for 30 minutes it was a pain in the ass. It felt moist from my breathing and I was worried it was gonna make my sinus infection worse. I'm already on a zpac to get rid of it and wearing the mask just made my sinuses hurt. The multilayered cloth mask or the surgeon type mask may be better but not as protective. For short time intervals a mask is OK but any longer than 30 minutes is painful. I feel sorry for the essential workers who have wear them for hours especially if they have sinus, asthma or breathing problems.

you exhale the virus just breathing. THAT is the reason for a mask

Maybe. But do we really know whether it's enough to make someone sick?

I don't think anyone knows that for sure . . . which why social distancing is important.

Oh, you mean the reason for wearing a mask is to attempt and corral your bio-aerosols to prevent illness?

Here, but occasionally There.
Well, in catching the news the last few weeks, we've seen stories advocating one thing and then others advocating just the opposite. Such and such drug is good for CV and then such and such drug doesn't help CV. It almost seems that for every argument pro, there is another for con.

I guess in all honesty, history will let us know at some point in the future just how bad/harmless the CV really was. Personally, I firmly believe that the media has hyped this event way out of proportion with their lack of looking to the details and telling the truth rather than hype hysteria in hopes of harming Trump's chances for re-election.

In my visits to Walmart and other places, I've seen both customers and employees not wearing masks. Personally, my wife and I have NOT worn any, and we are both over 65. Mostly we've stayed at home, but we do try to get out every day and go walking for anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 miles, in addition to our occasional trip for groceries or such.

So all the Drs and nurses who are wearing mask are doing so because they have a cough or sneezing issue...I see.

Not what I said or who I was referring to and you know it.

You said we spread it simply by exhaling . . . therefore we should all wear cloth masks when we're out. But we don't know if that's actually legit or enough to transmit it to the extent that folks get sick.

Docs and nurses are wearing them because of having a much higher risk of exposure than the rest of us when we're in Walmart.

You have a high risk of exposure to many things when you go to Walmart, mostly visual.
