In my library is Thomas DiLorenzo's, "The Real Lincoln". Pretty much puts to rest the myth and portrays the reality of what can only be considered a despot. Power corrupts. I've noticed one line on radio trailers this week that struck a cord with me. To paraphrase, "Fairness. That is justice". Definitely a socialist slant.

Yeah, this is my view. I upset a CoPro whose personal hero was Lincoln by questioning the simple solutions Lincoln ignored or did not have the leadership skills with which to influence a less destructive path. His primary interest was power and control of the pre-conflict Union, not preservation. The backlash of some of these policies exists even today.

I strongly suspect that Lincoln, much like JFK, got a huge pass because he died violently in office.

I may see the movie, but I do not particularly care for Mr. Lewis as an actor either.

Yeah, there's much more to Lincoln than the "freed the slaves, won the war, got assassinated" told in children's history books.

Your not alone in your thinking, mid-19th century Democrats thought exactly the same way.

Not every actor is the master thespian that is Burt Reynolds :wink2:
