Obviously you can do what you want, but the law prohibits CHAMBER loaded long guns, even with carry license, so you could lose the license if caught.

Personally, I don't like to carry ANY long gun chamber loaded in a vehicle, due to long guns being more likely to fire than handguns in a collision. Chamber empty and mag loaded and inserted suits me for a rack mounted long gun.

I think he was just saying he carries it just in case he needs it. At least that's the way I read it. But it each his own. I can barely hit a dick with a great shotgun much less with an ar. Lol.
