Better question... what can we do to make this happen???


Personally, I think it's a great idea. I also think making it voluntary for school districts to implement will make it MUCH easier to pass the Oklahoma Senate and House, get a lot more backing. We can get the NRA involved to sponsor training of instructors, maybe even get some of our people HERE to get in front of students and administrators, legislators. We can make this happen in Oklahoma. We get OK2A involved, we can help get the legislation written, passed and stamped in the next session!

I don't know how to do this, but I will personally meet with my local Rep and bring the idea up to him, see if I can get him on board to be a sponsor or co-author. Anyone else think they can get their local Reps or Senators involved? Whose district has a heavy pro-gun, pro-safety, pro-education Rep or Sen?


Who else wants to get this implemented in Oklahoma public schools????

AND is willing to work together within our system to get it done???

An easy start would be to get copies of existing legislation like the one in LA. Present it as is or make changes and give it to your representative to introduce next session. Doing the leg work for him/her will make it easier for them to get on board and introduce the bill. Also copy it onto paper that is not white so it stands out in a stack of bills. Joining OK2A and seeking their support would also be helpful.

Go sit face to face with them. Like rawhide stated, the fact that a bill is out there and has passed in LA will give you something to hand them. I learned this last fall when working with some other guys about changing some trapping laws in OK, emails and letters get overlooked.............so should this get rolling in OK, phone calls to reps and senators showing our approval is paramount, not emails.

Alright, I'm going to get to work on getting a copy of the legislation, getting with OK2A and going through things to see if some of them may need to be adjusted or tweaked for Oklahoma.
