Thinking of getting a turret press to go with my Rock Chucker, and was looking at the Lyman T-Mag II.....anyone have any experience with it? Thought about the Redding T-7, but that thing is way overbuilt for what I intend to do with it, much less being $100 more than the Lyman with the extra turrets being about $20 more each. I know many recommend the Lee, but a friend of mine has some bigger stuff that I might reload for him (.375 H&H, .458 Lott), so I want something a little more sturdy, though most of what I'll be doing is handgun or .308. Thanks for any advice.

Why not get the lee and a good single stage press? If I remember right those lyman's aren't cheap and you could get either the lee turret or the load master and a single stage for about the same price...

I almost pulled the trigger on a T-7 this morning; had the credit card info and everything entered, but chickened out. I thought I'd compare the Lyman press against it first, since it's so stinking expensive. A progressive would be nice, but I want to keep things kind of simple, but speed it up a bit over my Rock Chucker. I do want a press that's going to last me, so the Redding may be the way to go.

Get off my lawn.
I expect the redding to serve me, my kids, and their kids at minimum. The thing is built like a brick outhouse. A lot of guys use the T7 to load precision rifle ammo on the snipers hide. I've never heard the Lyman press mentioned over there. Either will load ammo but since it is a fixed upfront cost it'll just take a little longer to make up the difference but you'll have a better press in the end.

The Lee sure seems tempting with the price, but I'm afraid any of the bigger cartridges I potentially could load might send it to an early retirement. As for now, I'll keep an eye on the T-7 or the Lyman (Lyman only because of the price difference). I really should just pony up the money for the T-7......

i've used a lyman t-mag for close to 20 yrs, never any regrets
most of what i load is .45acp and 38spcl/357 and dabble in 3006 and .223
i use a separate RCBS powder drop and a mix of RCBS and lee dies

How well would the Lyman handle the bigger stuff: .45/70, .458, etc.? I've heard the Redding is an elephant and isn't phased by the larger cartridges; that would be my major concern, though I'd seldom load them enough - and could probably knock those out in the Rock Crusher. That keeps the T-Mag in the running. Thanks for the replies.
