I am looking to aquire a MAC 11 9mm and would like to put a 22lr kit on it. Has anyone had any experiance with the 22 kits for the MAC 11's? Or, Should I spend the extras money towards a LAGE slowfire kit?

The 22 kits is cheaper to purchase and allows me to shoot the much cheaper 22lr rounds, but the lage kit make the gun look much better and I am told handle better as well. Any one have an opinion.

As a long time owner of a Lage Slowfire Upper (mine is the 3rd one Lage made) I would highly recommend it. I could care less what it looks like, what is important to me is it makes the gun far more controllable and easy to use. Can't help on the. 22 kit as I have never used one.

Not to get technical here......M-11 or Mac-10(9mm)?
Here are some websites from my buddy in Houston..The Atomic Lab Rat(Sean Cody). Sean is an attorney, NFA knowledegable, and has had many Mac's.

I have never talked to this guy, but have e-mailed him. I'm not sure his site is current but you can give it a try.

Sean's website.....give him a shout via email. He may not have any or be down to just one or two Mac's but he can work on them and is very familiar with them.

M-11

** In my experience...the M-11 is a very fast(rate of fire) shooting gun. The ones I have had were a lot faster than the Mac's!!!!
Mac-10(45acp)

My Mac-10's were always the Mac with the sliding pin bottom button release, not the pin that had a hook that latched.
**Yes I know this is an airsoft gun .....best picture I could find***

Mac-10(9mm)
Most of the Mac 10(9mm) that I have seen were the Texas Mac's. I have seen a few Powder Springs guns.

***The only reason I show the difference in these is if you talk to a supplier and say "Mac" when you mean "M-11" you'll be in for a surprise when you get the wrong parts.

Here are a few suppliers, you probably have these sites but I'll throw them out.

Practical Solutions......Sam is a great guy to deal with. Don't know anything about his .22kits.

I have talked to this guy several times and have never dealt with him. He seems friendly and knowledgeable.

Here is a supply site. The original owner (Harvey) is deceased and don't know anything about the current owner. I have bought items from here and if you knew Harvey...he was a heavy tobacco pipe smoker. When you opend the box of items, it smelled of heavy pipe smoke.

Of course you know Richard Lage. *** I will be the only dissenting opinion here on the Lage upper****

There is nothing wrong with his uppers....they are of quality workmanships and material. What I didn't like was the weight it added to the gun. That's all.

Definitely go to Subguns and see how much guns go for and what different people have to say!!! I have purchased Grease Gun magazines for my Mac-10's from Tom.

I like stock Class III and have never even had a supressor. My wife liked to her the gun's sound and the brass tinkling on the floor.

***I do understand if you want to slow the gun down!!! I bought a M-11 for her and we wnet to test fire it at an indoor range when we lived in Houston. She wasn't use to a rapid fire gun, she was use to my Uzi or Thompson(slower rate of fire as compaired to the M-11). I warned her on the rate of fire and how fast this little gun was. I reminded her, count 1,2....let off triger so she could regain her stance and she how fast it was, also to learn to lean into it.

Well, she shot up the ceiling, several other targets and even the metal holder that holds the target. She never touched THAT gun again!! She stuck with the Uzi.

I am a BIG proponent of the Uzi!!!!!!!! You have a gun with parts and NO magazine problems. This is also a very smooth shooting gun......and its a 9mm!!!! I even owned one....dang, I cant remember the brand...it wasn't Israeli(IMI) .....anyway...this gun was registered in 3 calibers(.22,9mm,and 45acp) Vector??? Dang it I'm getting old!!!

Save up and buy an Uzi!! Trust me....you'll buy more SMG's...trust me. When the Class III bug bites, there is no cure....except more guns!!!

Here is a guy I have bought numerous guns from. Great to deal with and very knowlegeable, he knows the Mac but he really likes the Ruger AC556.

***Little side note, don't get in a hurry on your purchase....trust me, there are plenty out there. Look for a gun that has plenty of parts, magazines and magazine springs(M-11 Zytel plastic magazines SUCK). Ask, ask, and ask about as many questions as you can think of. Shoot....yes shoot...as many different guns as possible. The Mac is a good gun and somewhat affordable........but let me tell you......as you progress with Class III, you want some Cadillacs!!!!
