Posting this on behalf of my father-in-law and his wife. The trailer they were renting was burnt down and they lost everything. They did not have renters insurance (apparently could not buy it because it didn't qualify?). Just seeing if anyone here has some advice, references, and next steps on what they can do to apply for aid or help. Any input and prayers would be welcomed. A couple of their neighbors lost their houses as well.

Thanks

The Red Cross should have post set in the area, they can direct them to what paperwork needs to be filled out and assist with filling it out. They should also be able to fill out for a debit card to replace clothing and any necessities. Police or Fire should be able to direct you to where they need to go. God Bless!

Several of the churches are forming donation drop-off points for supplies, shoes, clothing, etc. Just about any church in the Sand Springs or Mannford area should be able to assist in at least some way.

+1
My family has been gathering surplus blankets, kids clothes, etc (used but nothing wrong, just outgrown. School starts this month).
Red Cross website says cash donations accepted and I'm sure some donation drives will be setup locally but have no specific details for donating money or goods.

I am sorry for their loss, one thing I hope is that this thread will prompt those who do not have at least renters insurance, to get some.

I've heard multiple accounts of some of the fire victims not having any insurance on their homes or property! Man, that is sad stuff. Insurance is pretty cheap compared to the total loss of everything. One man lost his house and several antique vehicles. All gone with no insurance.
