I have two Win 7 PCs that are rock solid. My back up/reloading pc is at least 4 years old running XP. The only issue on it is the wifi card is jacked and causes a blue screen now and then. If I remove it it runs like a top.

Windows XP has been pretty solid since SP2.
Windows 7 is really good.
Mac OS X is actually less secure from a purely technical standpoint, but it's targeted by fewer people.
