What Cougar is stating about the school zones is correct. Technically, makes CCL outright impossible but it's also very impractical and waste of time for LEO/DA to try and enforce it. It's mainly reserved for whenever a crime does happen and it just so happens the person who committed the crime is also a CCL holder. It's a way to rub salt in the wounds of an offender by stacking charges.

It's kind of like laws we have here about walking against the flow of traffic on roads with no sidewalks. You can actually be ticketed for walking against traffic on city roads. It's almost never enforced, except in areas of prostitution / high crime/ drug activity. It's what's used to stop and detain prostitutes on South Robinson if they get quippy with LEO or don't comply with their drive by stop and questionings. It's a law that is selectively enforced for only a small group of people, but could be applied to anybody and everybody.

I can see more and more anti-2A cities enforcing the no carry around school zones as a way to use existing law to institute a ban if Feinstein's bill doesn't pass.

Here is a very recent quote from a US Attorney regarding the law:

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Susan E. Gillooly, the Deputy
Chief of the General Crimes Unit (Eastern District, Michigan)...

“A conviction under (GFSZA) will cause an individual to then become a
‘prohibited person’ under the Gun Control Act of 1968, which will bar
them from legally owning firearms the rest of their life,” Gillooly
told the Highlander.

They are aware of the law, and they are not giving CCW holders a pass. Yes, federal prosecution resources are limited, but make no mistake, they will charge a permit holder with this.

The ironic thing is, the national reciprocity bill(s) did not address Fed GFSZA, so even if they had passed, you would still not be able to carry within 1000 feet of a school.

She might propose one every year but we cannot afford to sit this one out and hope that the NRA and other groups pressure them to not pass it. I guarantee that they are not going to fear anyone and that since these tragedies as of late they are just itching to please the gun grabbers.

Yes absolutely agree with you. WE need to all JOIN the NRA, also the 2AF and GOA. And write to senators and congressmen. And get at least one other person to join the NRA.
