Military helicopters circling OKC

Today marks several days in a row that I've seen several waves of Apaches, Blackhawks and Hueys circling OKC - not flying straight (i.e leaving), circling the city. The Blackhawks and Hueys usually have at least one Apache escorting them. I also saw a formation of 3 Apaches circling last night. Maybe OKC IS the FEMA camp, we just don't know it yet.

I saw a whole bunch of choppers yesterday around 29th/I35. Too dark in the morning to see what they were.

now that you mention it i have noticed a lot more air travel lately. We have had groups of 4-6 chinooks coming and going really regularly over the past week or so around Edmond airspace.

They were at the Airport around 1215-1230. I thought it was odd to see what looked like 3 Blackhawks and an Apache.

ETA: They were heading West.

They are probably just training. Marines typically deploy in February and September. The units that are replacing them start doing work ups a few months before they leave. Not sure about the schedules for units around here but that'd be my guess

They had to get them out of Cuba because of the Hurricane was coming.
