They are fighting rifles, not target rifles. If they will put them all in the chest of a man sized target at combat ranges why does anything else matter?

So, you’re preparing for the zombie/socialist apocalypse where you’ll need to put rounds into a man’s chest, and you’re worried about the cost of mags?

Do tell?

I believe you just love misery. Carry on.

The problem with your theory is out past 100 yds after about 10-15 shots, which is way before you get to the bottom of that 30 round mag, you’d be lucky to hit the broadside of a 1978 International Harvester Dump Truck, because while they are really cool little rifles and I wouldn’t take for mine, they aren’t as accurate as a sling shot when the barrels get hot.

If you’ve got the time to waste jacking with mags, more power to ya.

If I had the money to buy better mags I would. I do not so I bought the best I could afford. Some of us are on disability, well SS now, with lots of medical expenses. I am already in the donut hole this year and have been for months. Like I said, you buy me better mags I will use them. Until then get off my back. I am making do the best I can.

How many mags could you have bought if you wouldn't have wasted your money on ones that don't work?

Seems to me if money is tight you'd be better off spending it on things that accomplish what you want instead of wasting it on things that won't.

Man, if you just like jacking and tinkering with those mags, I'm all about ya, but saying you can't afford to buy things that work so you buy things that don't work because they are cheaper makes no sense to me, never has and never will.

Good luck to ya! I hope ya get it all figured out.

I could have bought ONE Ruger mag and as I posted, they do freaking work as long as you are using correct length ammo. One failure to feed out of 120 rds is not bad at all. You guys need to get over your AR fanboy selves and if you can not contribute anything useful to the thread post a smillie and move on.

I'm an AR fan, but more than that I'm a to each his own fan. Just like I don't think one pistol fits all the same goes for rifles etc. Shoot what you're comfortable with...

I'm not a AR fanboi, not by a long shot. I've got more mini's than I do AR's. I think you just love the misery and to be an AR hater so as to be different.

You might want to check out the mini BBS over at Perfect Union. Maybe you can find what you seek over there.

There was a guy up in Utah that would work mini's over. I forget his name, and I think he passed away several years ago. He would "accurize" a mini by doing all manner of hocus pocus to them, and get them to be decently accurate. He charged a little less than a grand for a full job. When he got done, you had something that was about as accurate as an out of the box $500 AR. I corresponded with him for several months about what needed to be done to mine so they wouldn't spit bullets. I just decided to keep my money for "accurizing" a fun to shoot little rifle that spits bullets and spend that cash on a platform that is scary accurate off the shelf. I still shoot my mini's more than I shoot my AR's. It is my go to coyote rifle. I just know what they will and won't do.

Again, good luck with getting them to work for ya. I love mine.

No I learned to hate the AR platform while in the service in the 70s. It was a POS then and I can not get over my hatred of it. I much prefer the AK system and would love an AK in 5.56 that used AR mags and had a rear mounted peep site. Well with my fading eyesight maybe a very low power scope.
As far as the Mini 14 being accurate. It is as accurate as I can shoot anymore and since I do not expect charging hordes of zombies to attack my home it will do everything I need it to. If my health was better and my wallet was fatter I would love to have a heavier barrel fitted if possible and a custom wood stock.

If it’s a fighting rifle with 4 minute accuracy you are are screwed at 300 yards. You would be out shot by your enemy about every time.
