I guess I was just raised different, I agree with the mother, In Oklahoma it is a requirement that you take at least 1 year of a foreign language, it is not a option to not take one. If my son was required to say the POA in spanish, I would raise some hell myself. But that is just me. you probably wont find very many people that are more redneck than me

You guys really don't get it. It is not about the the fact the POA was said in Spanish. It's not some sort of insult to America or attack on our nation. It is a foreign language exercise. That's all. They use the POA because it is something that kids are very familiar with....the pattern and syntax. It is a common tool used to learn foreign languages.

The only reason people are raising hell is because it is Spanish.....What a sad testament to the effectiveness of subtle racist propaganda.

No yall don't get it, the issue is that the school/teacher is requiring that he recite it in spanish. If the kid had a choice on saying it in spanish or not, there would be no problem. It's almost like forcing someone to worship a different god. If the kid and his family don't believe in it, he should not have to participate.

I am not trying to be an A$$hole to anyone, things like this just really pisses me off

When I was in high school I had a choice of 3 different languages to study in.

Spanish
German
French

I picked German because I figured learning French was a waste of time and German would be more useful. :pms2:

How stupid was that decision? :owned3:

I'm much better now tho :D
