I do think this is pretty stupid but you folks blasting Fox did notice where the story came from didn't you? I love how people jump all over Fox for stories that came from other sources.

One of the reasons I love America is because we have the FREEDOM OF SPEECH and if you or anyone else can't deal with or respect that then oh well.... I have my opinion and that's that. Move on or cry about it, I don't care which you chose.

Well, at least you have started respecting other posters enough to actually READ what they post. :yelclap:

It's almost like forcing someone to worship a different god. If the kid and his family don't believe in it, he should not have to participate.

Yes, teaching a language (what should be a basic part of childhood education, it's far more valuable than the majority of what we teach in school) in a language class is akin to forcing someone to worship a different God. The similarity is striking.

That's asinine. It's not indoctrination, it's basic education. I didn't want to learn Trigonometry, but impassioned rhetoric about it being a new religion wouldn't get me out of it.

Only in English though, right?

GTG, Books and what's his face hit the nail on the head. The FUD is working, and this may be the new red scare. Stay away from the taco stands, less you should find yourselves blacklisted.

Lastly, I just wish I had paid attention in the four years of Spanish I took instead of sleeping and reading. I really wish I (and every other kid) was taught a second language from an early age. They do it with English nowadays pretty much the world over because they know how valuable it is. We have to accept that Spanish is a very valuable thing to know in modern America. But by all means, we should let silly rhetoric hold us back.

I think that we are gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, my opinion on this will NOT be changed, and I doubt I can change yours.

Ummm, excuse me if I am wrong, but isnt the Pledge of Allegiance a good thing regardless of what language it is said in?

Last I checked, the USA has no official language. No matter what language you say it in, English, French, German, Souix, Cherokee, Spanish, Dutch, Russian,... or Arabic (ewwwww, oh noes!) you are still pledging your allegiance to the United States of America...

^^^What he said.

Ignorance on display. I swear to God, I believe that some folks here just revel in ther ignorance. They are arrogant about it. It's a Spanish class. They....are...learning...to...speak...Spanish. So, they are learning the Pledge of Allegiance. Would this woman be happier if they were learning Mexico Lindo?

What a big deal about nothing.

Holy crap...I agree with you.
