More .223 reloading questions

I am puzzled by your Federal 223 being so short. I just checked 3 different brands of 55gr 5.56/223 and here are the OAL
Size from top to bottom this is new ammo from box.
Remington 2.239
Winchester 2.240
Federal 2.256

That doesn’t make sense does it ? Your federal rounds are substantially longer than mine and they have the OAL I would expect.

I suggest you check some other ammo if you own some or can find some. I don't know why the ammo you are looking at is so short, but I think that is your problem is you are trying to compare to something that isn't the norm. I just grabbed 3 random brands and boxes that were all new to pull those samples from.

I have other boxes of federal that I will check tomorrow to see if they have the same measurements. That is the only brand I have but it will be interesting to see if they are the same length. Thanks for the info.
