"If America worked harder to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, there would be fewer atrocities like the one that occurred in Newtown," Obama said at the time.

How about severe penalties for criminals who commit crimes using guns. How about "Fast and Furious?" Who is going to jail for that?

Why a greater penalty for using a firearm than a knife, baseball bat, or a broad sword?

The people of England might have a better answer for that. They outlawed guns over there then moved on to knives clubs and rocks. They don't mention their crime rate with those weapons. All they can gripe about is OUR guns.

You have a point....violent crime no matter if it's fists or weapons should have more severe penalties.

…“As proposed, the regulation makes it illegal for some who has been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence offense to own a gun.”…
Gun rights advocates sat that this rule could be used unfairly to target certain gun owners.

…“That could be a person who spanked his kid, or yelled at his wife, or slapped her husband,” warned Michael Hammond, legislative counsel for the Gun Owners of America.”…
Naturally the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Americans for Responsible Solutions couldn’t/wouldn’t respond to requests for comment. DUH!!!:pissed::censored:

Justice Department prepares raft of new gun restrictions

..."In the end, rules like this have basically nothing to do with public safety, but instead are focused on government control and sending a message."...

..."Some of those rules will be tied up in court for years, but Obama senses that the next president will not have a favorable view of gun control and wants to stamp his anti-gun legacy on as much as possible before he leaves."...

Whether it be the ATFE, IRS, EPA, or any other alphabet agency, the bigger issue here is that the legislative process is being circumvented by imposing laws through agency regulations. Members of Congress should hear from us and demand that such regulatory law making stop.

While Congress did put a stop to the armor piercing bullet regs I'm not that optimistic they'll do anything to stop these new regulations. They did confirm the new AG who everyone new would do just what she is doing.
